  • Maintaining and updating the existing UTIP data sets based upon Theil Index (European Regional Level Inequality and U.S. State-level Gini Coefficient)

  • Monitor country-level inequality using basic geographic information system (GIS) tools

  • Studying political and economic factors that increase and reduce inequality during 2000s at a world scale

  • Conduct in-depth statistical analyses on applications of inequality data on broad issues, such as finance and great crisis, social cohesions, social welfare systems, demographic issues.

  • Develop and implement innovative approaches to analyze various inequality-related questions, using techniques including descriptive statistics, sampling, and econometric modeling.

  • Built and maintained a database on the relations between African countries and emerging markets (i.e. China, India, Russia, Brazil and Turkey), including:
    • Time-series of key economic indicators (trade, investment, loans and aid), disaggregating by country, sector, and origin
    • Transactions in key sectors (e.g. agriculture, infrastructure, construction, minerals, metals, environment, land, etc.)

  • Prepared two policy briefs prepared for the Director of RBA's African Trip in Aug. 2010.

  • Contributed to writing the grant proposal of African Human Development Report.

  • Conducted a mapping of Chinese institutional partnership on African development (e.g. with World Bank, the African Development Bank, the African Union, DFID, UNEP etc)
