Dr. Zhang's research primarily focuses on the measurement of income inequality on a world scale. She is also interested in evaluating the social and political impacts of unbalanced development on different societies. As a leading member of the University of Texas Inequality Project, she publishes in different conferences and journals. During several summers, Dr. Zhang has worked at the United Nations Development Program on African and other issues, and so has had the opportunity to develop professional skills in the setting of a large international organization. From Feb. 2013 to Dec. 2013 she worked as a research consultant at the World Bank.
She also worked as an indepedent research consultant at the Luxembourg Income Study Center in 2014.
Dr. Zhang holds a Master degree in Statistics from University of Texas at Austin and a Master degree in Russian Studies from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She received her Bachelor degrees in Economics and Russian from Peking University, China.
